Still Ploughing Ahead…

It’s been a busy time since October 2021 when my biography of Henry Coombe-Tennant of Cadoxton, Neath was published by Y Lolfa of Talybont. Sales have gone really well (my wife and I have “shifted” over 300 copies ourselves) and the reviews have been very positive. Indeed, the book has been entered in the Wales Book of the Year Awards!

Though I am still promoting the book on dear old Henry, I am also starting to work on my next project. I’m researching (with my wife helping me with record copying – there is a lot of material) Swansea in the Second World War. Swansea folk are well aware of the devastation wrought on the town by the Luftwaffe during the infamous “Three Nights’ Blitz” of February 1941, but the Swansea story of 1939-1945 encompasses far more than that traumatic event.

I hope to recount how Swansea experienced the war both in the town and in a multitude of “foreign fields”. I have a long way to go, though the research is coming along very nicely and I hope to get the work into print in the late Autumn of 2023 – assuming I can pin down a publisher. Actually, while I take nothing for granted, I am optimistic in that respect. The story is certainly well worth telling…
